Chloe Star releases her new emotional single titled ‘Stand The Silence’

Chloe Star breaks her rock vibes with her new single, standing in stark contrast to her recent single ‘FIMF’ and her debut EP the bed i lie in. It shows her wide range of lyrical and vocal talent by going into a more introspective side of her sound. Star is an Indigenous singer, songwriter, visual artist and fierce advocate for female empowerment. Her music is just as unapologetic and fearless as herself, up until now blending elements of pop, rock and punk into catchy sounds. With her new single ‘Stand The Silence’ she takes another step in her music career, staying true to herself and creating a vulnerable song.

The song starts off with gentle guitar sounds, that accompany her soft voice throughout the whole song. ‘Stand The Silence’ goes into the emotional highs and lows of an artist’s life, from the rush of touring to the quiet loneliness that one can feel creeping in after a performance. The queer singer herself describes that it’s “about the loneliness that sets in when the rush and energy of everything subsides, and you’re left alone with your thoughts and demons”. The heart-wrenching melody goes hand in hand with the raw lyrics. For example “I’m always in my head and that’s the problem. ‘Cause it’s all in my head and that’s the problem” shows her dealing with her mental health. “Why does my house not feel like home?” goes on to reveal more of her inner battles when coming back from a show.

Even when you’re not a touring artist, the song still gives you the opportunity to connect with it. As the lyrics can be relatable to lots of people, having lonely moments that creep in when you least
expect them and the longing for being away from your current situation. “I just wanna run away somewhere you’ll never find me” is an example of that. Not feeling like oneself, maybe like putting
on a performance, just like an artist has to on stage, she goes on to sing “I love my friends and family but god they just remind me of the version of myself that I don’t like”. The song is all in all a raw song, a vulnerable side that the singer and songwriter shares with the world, a song that might be relatable to many people and that, like all songs, is open to interpretation of the listener.

Having been praised by outlets like EUPHORIA, 1883 Magazine, and EARMILK, the queer singer and songwriter is a rising force on the alt-pop scene, and having made her debut EP this year we can all be waiting to hear more from her. May it be a rock song or a heart-wrenching song like ‘Stand The Silence’, we are excited to hear more from her talent.
