Krooked Tongue releases new single 'Nothing Ever Grows'

Bristol alt-rock trio Krooked Tongue just released their single ‘Nothing Ever Grows’ – an interesting track about turning worry into hope.

The band is known in the UK rock/indie-scene for their encapsulating live performances and this recent single follows the 2023 EP ‘Deathproof’ which boasted 320,000 streams as of this date. Vocalist and lyricist Oli Rainsford describes the song as “[…] an ode to the tortured artist” and how it’s about the importance of a positive mental attitude. He says that without it nothing prosperous will come out of it, hence the title ‘Nothing Ever Grows’. The song stems from the frustration of being in a situation where progress or growth is stunted.  It’s about when you’re stuck on an idea or lyric that you just can’t seem to continue. Rainsford, however, states that the song can relate to all parts of life. This emotional weight is perfectly reflected in the aggressive and grungy sound of the track.

‘Nothing Ever Grows’ is a high-energy track with distorted guitars, fast drums and intense vocals. The song has a grungy feel and blends raw and gritty instrumentals with emotionally charged lyricism. It’s one of those songs you almost can’t sit still to and hearing it, you won’t doubt the previous claim of “encapsulating live performances” – these guys know how to rock out. With ‘Nothing Ever Grows’, Krooked Tongue really captures the rawness and rebellious spirit of classic alt-rock while at the same time making it their own – just as they do in their other songs.

Krooked Tongue are playing a few gigs in the UK this October, so if you are in the area and is a fan of hard-hitting and thoughtful music – don’t hesitate to go.
